Hi, there!

I'm Maca, and I'm so glad you found me.

I live at the intersection of beauty and functionality. I love to problem solve. And, I love connecting people with ideas, so I became a designer.

Well, first I was a 911 dispatcher. Then a student of American Sign Language. Oh, also an English major. And then a photographer. But all of it eventually led to design.

Now, as a graduate student in communications, I’m focused on the full picture: shaping brands from the inside out, where strategy, voice, and design work together with intention.

I start by listening to your voice, your values, what you’re trying to say, and what’s getting in the way. Then I bring it together with strategy, language, visuals, and experience, so your brand doesn’t just look good, it makes sense and feels human - and it's built to last.

(And, in case you're wondering, it rhymes with Chewbacca.)

On a personal note...

"We are all just walking each other home."

- Ram Dass

The best way to describe who I am at the core is “a Southern soul with evergreen roots.”

I  have been shaped by public service, creative work, and a long career spent helping people connect to things that matter. I was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised in Texas, which explains my love of wide open spaces, great barbecue, the smell of rain, and my tendency to lead with a lot of warmth and a little "bless your heart."

Creativity has always been part of who I am. I don’t make things because I want to — I make things because I have to. Whether it’s photography, design, crafting, or storytelling, creating is how I process the world and how I contribute to it. I care deeply about work that is both beautiful and useful. I’m motivated by clarity, empathy and impact — by helping people feel seen and by making things easier to understand or navigate.

My favorite quote is by Ram Dass: "We are all just walking each other home." I value simplicity and laughter, and I strive to be a good walking companion – someone who joins your journey with compassion, honesty, kindness and integrity.

If there’s a common thread in everything I do, it’s this: I want to leave people and places better than I found them and make the world feel a little more beautiful and relatable along the way.

I bring a dry (oh, so very dry) sense of humor to serious work and take pride in showing up consistently. I don’t chase recognition. I care deeply about doing the work well: clear, thoughtful, and built to last.

Take me out for an iced coffee or craft brew, and I'll tell you my favorite dad joke. Then... let's start something™.
